Wawayanda "Our Town" Quilt PDF Print E-mail

Congratulations are certainly in order for the committee of dedicated Wawayanda women, who recently produced an elegant and distinguished historical quilt for “Our Town”  that will be hung permanently at the Town Hall located on Ridgebury Hill Road.  It was made under the leadership of Mrs. Shirley Flynn and Mrs. Ruth Telgheder, artist designer Karen Volpicella, and Mrs.Marguerite Lowry as liaison to all parties involved.

The committee produced a quilt representing the eight hamlets of the town, with  the center section depicting a Slate Hill scene from the 1875 Beers Atlas.

The quilt was unveiled at the Wawayanda Town Hall on July 15, 2007 and can be seen by the public during the Town Hall’s regular hours.  This breathtaking work will stand long after we will, and shall continue to provide a special sense of our history for all to share.

We wish to thank these ladies for their spectacular achievement!
