The main subject taken up by the blog seems to be a piece of property that is currently for sale. The blog fails to mention that Councilwomen Soro is not the only town board member with land for sale in the town. She though has been singled out while they ignore the fact that Councilman Cole also has land for sale. Here are some facts to consider:
* The blog claims that Councilwoman Soro has a false tax exemption on the property.
FACT: Councilwoman Soro has an agricultural exemption on the property approved by the town assessor.
FACT: Councilman Cole has the exact same agricultural exemption on his property.
* The blog claims that the property is owned solely by Councilwoman Soro.
FACT: The property in question is owned by four individuals of whom she is one. She therefore owns 25%.
FACT: Councilman Cole’s property is owned by five individuals of whom he and his wife (also an elected official) are two. They therefore own 40%.
* The blog shows a sign advertising the property in question for sale.
FACT: The property for sale has an agent, Tom Pahucki, who will handle all aspects of the sale. Councilwoman Soro has adhered to the town’s ethics code by not handling the sale herself.
FACT: Councilman Cole currently is the agent for the sale of his property. This arrangement is in direct violation of the town’s code of ethics.
* The blog states that the advertisement for Councilwoman Soro’s property reads “seller will offer due diligence to preliminary approval.” It goes on to question what that means and concludes that it refers to her using influence before the planning board and represents conflict of interest.
FACT: Due diligence refers to an engineer or other property owner representing the property before the planning board. This will determine the exact number of lots the property may contain according to current zoning laws. Councilwoman Soro has no intent of violating the town’s ethics code by representing the property before the planning board herself.
FACT: Councilman Cole has violated the town’s ethics code by representing the property before the town planning board himself. He has done this more than once even after it was brought to his attention that it violated the town’s ethics code.
The blog states that “ethics – must be a new meaning- keep watching.” It seems they believe that ethics are only for elected Democrats not Republicans. If they are so concerned with truth and ethics some questions need to be answered. Why were Councilman Cole’s ethics violations not mentioned? Why was Councilwoman Soro singled out for ridicule when she has done nothing unethical? Could it be that the anonymous writers have a hidden agenda? Could the writers possibly want to draw attention away from themselves? Could this be smoke and mirrors to get us to look the other way?
I wonder who the writer or writers could be. I guess the cowards will never let us know who they are. They continue to operate in the shadows known only to each other. Maybe you can figure out who they are. The facts seem to point to_____________ well you figure it out!!!!
